Why is energy balance important?

In Eastern (Tibetan, Ayurvedic and Chinese) herbal formulations, the selection of herbs is based on balancing the body's internal energies, taking into account the four basic elements of nature (Earth, Water, Fire and Air), as well as three fundamental energies (Lung, Tripa and Beken). Each herb is associated with one or more elements and energies, which influence different aspects of the body.
Herbs can also be categorised according to their thermal properties: they can have a warming effect (stimulating digestion and promoting blood circulation) or a cooling effect (calming and anti-inflammatory).
Flavours (sweet, bitter, sour and spicy) also play an important role, as each is associated with different physiological effects; for example, sweet flavours are considered calming, while bitter flavours are considered cleansing.
Choosing the appropriate herbs helps restore harmony between body and mind, taking individual energetic states and needs into account.
